It's been an exceptionally busy term for The Norman Rea Gallery - their busiest yet - and they’ve finished the term off by partnering with HARD Magazine for their launch party, which featured Issue 21: Origins.
HARD is a tri-annual fashion/art/culture publication produced by the students of The University of York.
A casual, interactive night encouraged visitors to bring their own drinks, and saw groups of people watching art being made in-situ, drawing together, and socialising on a conversation-pit esque sofa area.
A highlight of the night was Adrian Maidman, York student and artist, live-drawing during the night and selling his works to benefit the charity MIND.
Hard featured their limited edition merchandise alongside the event. The night was a great collaboration, mixing digital and material art forms.
In this case, The Norman Rea Gallery became host to not just the art currently on display (See: Thin Ice Press exhibit), but a transformative event that brought a dual purpose to the space, mimicking the galleries goals of being an environment for creatives to gather, socialise, and contribute to their artistic community.
